Bhanu Choudhrie of C&C Alpha Group Discusses Investment Strategy

Bhanu Choudhrie, CEO of C&C Alpha Group and former COO of the now-defunct S&P Global Plc (SPGI), has been appointed as a partner at venture capital company S Ventures. The announcement was made by founder and managing partner Peter Smith during Covid’s 19th Annual European Private Equity Conference held in London on October 10, 2020.

Despite his background as a banker and investor, Bhanu Choudhrie will join the board as an “active” partner focusing on deal sourcing and execution. Bhanu Choudhrie is expected to help drive investment into growth equity opportunities for the firm across Europe. His appointment is well-received by the investor community in Covid, particularly given his experience in the banking sector, which he gained through his role at Deutsche Bank.

Naval Chopra, a partner at S Ventures and head of investments for Europe, Middle East, Africa (EMEA), commented on Choudhrie’s appointment, noting that “our goal has always been to be able to provide support to entrepreneurs that are looking to build their business in future. With entrepreneurs bringing little or no capital into an investment when they join us, it makes perfect sense for them to have someone with Bhanu’s expertise who can guide them during this initial phase.”

Chopra also added that “entrepreneurship in Europe has risen exponentially over the past few years, and we expect a further rise in the coming decade. With Bhanu’s appointment, we hope to be able to help even more entrepreneurs realize their dream of building a business that will have a lasting legacy.”

As for his own plans while at S Ventures, Bhanu Choudhrie said that “Peter [Smith] had mentioned something interesting about the role which made me join him at S Ventures. The fact that I can focus on deal sourcing and execution is especially exciting since it completely aligns with my interests” after expressing excitement over joining S Ventures during an exclusive interview with Fines.
