Lawyer, Neil Gerrard: Former Partner of Dechert LLP

Dechert LLP announced on Monday that Neil Gerrard is leaving the company after more than three decades with the firm to take up a position at Caroline Black. There, he’ll handle international arbitration work for private clients among other things. Neil Gerrard starts his new job on November 1st.  Gerrard spent most of his career in London but relocated back to New York last year when he was promoted from managing director at Dechert’s New York office. 

 

Here, he was responsible to the global head of dispute resolution. He joined the firm in 1983 and became a partner seven years later. He specializes in international arbitration and commercial litigation, but also has experience in various other areas of corporate law, including mergers and acquisitions, real estate finance, and project development within the power industry. When Neil Gerrard first joined the firm, he relocated to London. Since becoming a partner, he has spent most of his time in New York. 

 

For the past year, he has served as head of Dechert’s global dispute resolution practice, which currently comprises nearly 100 lawyers across offices in Beijing, Brussels, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, London, New York, and Washington. “His invaluable leadership and guidance have been a key factor in our success as we continue to grow and broaden the global reach of our practice. Neil Gerrard´s promotion was well-deserved,” firm chairman William Dantzler said at the time.
