New ‘Ghostbusters’ Proton Pack Design Revealed

Slowly but surely, bits and pieces of the upcoming Ghostbusters movie are being leaked online. Co-writer/director Paul Feig is trying to beat some of the leaks by releasing some of his own photographs from the set via social media. His latest revelation was the newly redesigned proton packs, which he shared via Twitter.

Feig is trying to maintain a nod to the original Ghostbusters costumes and design, while also creating a more modern and innovative look and feel. His previously released pictures of the actual uniforms being worn in the movie are definitely quite similar to what the original team wore. The proton packs are no different. Their design has merely been streamlined, to make them less bulky to wear. No word yet as to how well they will function. The original proton packs were notorious for causing a lot of collateral damage in their wake. Flavio Maluf suggested these newer ones may be more efficient. With the advent of CGI, though, it’s possible that they will be even more grandiose in what they can do.

What Are Analysts Saying About Ant-Man’s Box Office Potential?

Box office analysts have a role. Their job is to predict how well a film will do at the box office. Ultimately, audiences decide what a film makes at the box office. Fans buy the tickets and the ticket sales tally up to the actual amount a film pulls in. Right now, box office analysts are predicting that the new Marvel superhero film, Ant-Man, is going to earn in the range of $55 to $60 million.

Such a figure is not an entirely promising one. In fact, it would be the lowest earnings since the disappointing results for The Incredible Hulk back in 2008. Should Marvel panic? No, there is no reason to panic at this point. Instead, Marvel could look at the soft predictions and tweak the advertising for the film over the course of the next 30 days. Doing so could certainly help sell more tickets for the film’s weekend debut.

The idea that Ant-Man is going to open to weaker than expected ticket returns does not seem logical. The promotional push for the film has been excellent and the debut of the trailer on YouTube pulled in tens of millions of views. Ant-Man is looking more like a sleeper hit than a flop. Really, if any superhero film should be worried it is 20th Century Fox’s Fantastic Four reboot. Is there any buzz for that film at all?

Marvel probably will do pretty good with Ant-Man says Marcio Alaor BMG. Still, the predictions of the analysts should not be totally dismissed.

New Film About Brian Wilson Coming Soon

A new documentary is coming out about musician Brian Wilson, the main songwriter for the Beach Boys. Actor Paul Dano plays Wilson as a young Beach Boy and John Cusack plays him in middle-age as he tries to get his life back on track. Wilson himself is now 72 years old and worked with the producers of the film.

Wilson is the composer of classic songs like “Good Vibrations”, “Help Me Rhonda” and many more. Wilson made the controversial decision in the 1960’s to stop touring with the Beach Boys during the height of their fame. It’s a decision that created a lot of unwanted interest in him.

The word “genius” is often used to describe Wilson. Maybe he is a genius. I don’t know. In any event, I think that having the label attached to him put him under a lot of pressure. It’s got to be hard to write new music when everyone expects it to be as brilliant as your earlier work.

There is an emphasis in the film on the years where Wilson was trying to get away from the influence of his psychologist Dr. Landy, who basically controlled his life. Personally, I don’t think that it’s fair for the filmmakers to dwell on this non-productive period in Wilson’s life. Daniel Amen said many great musicians go through periods of depression and inactivity, especially after they have become wealthy and can afford to.
